I’m Cat.
One of many nicknames.
It’s not short for Catherine, though many assume it is. Because that would make sense.
But I’m a bigger fan of nonsense.
Cat is for Caitlin.
Cait would be a more practical nickname, but for whatever reason I don’t feel like a Cait/Cate/Kate. And I definitely don’t feel like a Caitlin.
Cat.
Like the animal! (As a barista at Starbucks once exclaimed to me. He seemed ecstatic. I just wanted a strawberry Frappuccino).
Cat
Easy to say, easy to spell. Or so I thought.
*Loud blaring music at a sports lounge. Wild attractive man appears* “What’s your name?” “Cat!” “Cath?” “No, CaT!” “Cathy?” “No…Uh…” *Spells it in the air using ASL* “Uh…ok…” *Wild attractive man leaves* Womp.
*Pierre Bouvier is writing an autograph* “What’s your name?” “Cat. But with a ‘C’!!! C-A-T.” “…Right.” *Pierre Bouvier casts judging look* He knows how to spell.
So, Cat.
A bit more complicated than anticipated.
Today I am blogging. I am not new to the idea of blogging. I have blogged on many sites. MANY sites. From Myspace to LiveJournal, to Mibba, to this little Winnipeg news site where I submitted one. Count ‘em. ONE concert review for Marianas Trench’s first show here. And Tumblr. But Tumblr is tricky for blogs. It thrives off gifs of people getting hit by random objects and pictures of majestic unicorns eating pizza. And I’m down for it just as much as the next totally awesome (awkward) person, but I’m going to try this one more time. My way.
I won’t lie. I don’t have a direction for this blog necessarily. You’re supposed to have a niche for these sorts of things, I’m aware. But I am notorious for starting new passions and then jumping ship for something else. I’ve been like this my whole life. The problem is that I like the idea of too many things. If there was one thing that has stuck with me through life, it’s writing. I am not a very honest person in spoken words but I am painfully honest in writing.
I am giving myself 3 years for this blog. I just want to have fun with it. I want to vent and discuss and meet new likeminded people, or even reconnect with friends of the past.
Expect to find posts here dealing with my thoughts and opinions on a mishmash of things. I plan to discuss subjects from driving anxiety to loss and also lighter subjects like Disney World, fanfic writing and the comeback of record players and cassette tapes. I will also fangirl at you with favourite music/bands, movies, books and maybe even the odd post about old SEGA games I used to be obsessed with.
So if you too have an interest in any of the aforementioned subjects, come back to visit again sometime. As of right now I’m fuelled with motivation to blog frequently.
I’m Cat.
I’m a rambler.
